FAQ's
Where did the name Kitsch Kids come from? And what does it mean?
The dictionary definition of 'kitsch' is something cute, quirky and unusual.
That's what we're looking for in our models. We think it's vital to put forward
a wide range of models and to embrace the diversity of all our children.
Do you accept everyone who applies onto your books?
At Kitsch Kids we pride ourselves on giving every child a fair chance of doing
some modelling. We and our clients - are not looking for 'chocolate box' good
looks, but a fair representation of kids of all shapes and sizes. We will
accept your child onto our books if we feel that they will stand a good chance
of getting some work, and if they have the right attitude in front of camera.
Unlike some other agencies, we professionally photograph all children before
taking them on so we can see how they adapt to modelling.
How will my child be promoted to potential clients?
Our main means of promoting our models is through our professionally managed
and securely-run website. This means that art directors and clients can access
the details of children on our books at their convenience, and, by making it
simple for them, we hope to secure more modelling jobs for your child.
How can I tell if I am joining a reputable agency?
First of all, Kitsch Kids is run by mothers so you can be sure that we have
your children's best interests at heart. One of the reasons director Sharon
Sandell set up the agency was that she has worked for over fifteen years as an
art director, creating magazines, catalogues and promotions where she needed to
book child models. She was convinced that there was a gap in the market for an
agency that was financially fair to models, parents and clients. If you read
our terms and conditions you will see that we are very clear about our
responsibilities and how you will be recompensed when your child completes a
job. Also, we do not charge you for photographs to start your child on the road
to modelling, instead we see this as part of our investment in your child's
future. Finally, we are fully accountable to you, and you can call us with any
queries you may have.
If my child is accepted by Kitsch Kids, will they be guaranteed work?
It's not possible for any modelling agency to guarantee your child will work.
Ultimately that decision is made by our clients, who are the ones who choose
who they will take on for each job. You can be assured though that we will do
our best to ensure that our external marketing means clients have the
information they need to access our website where your child's portfolio will
be displayed in a fresh, attractive and easy-to-use format. Of course it is in
our interests to make sure that we place as many models in jobs as possible so
this is where we concentrate our efforts.
Are there any legal requirements I need to know about for my child to do modelling work?
You will need a local education authority licence if you want to take your
child out of school to do a modelling job. This involves getting a letter from
your child's head teacher and doctor. We can advise you on this and more
details are in our information sheet that you will receive when you join.
What do I do when a client is interested in my child?
We will provide all models and their parents with an information sheet entitled
"What to do when your child is a Kitsch Kids model". This explains the process,
how you should attend castings and bookings, what to expect, etc.
Is there a fee to be represented by your agency?
Yes. We charge a one off registration fee of £100, which covers all
the administration work that putting your child on to our books incurs and
for ongoing license work that we have to do each time your child gets a
job. However we do not charge for the professional photographs we will take
of your child that will appear on our website if your child is accepted.
Please see the terms and conditions on your information sheet (above) for
more details of the commission charged and the financial details when your
child has a job.
